My Path to Acupuncture

How I finally found my calling...

I always knew I wanted to work in the medical field. When we were kids, my sister and I had a doctor's office set up in our basement. At the risk of violating pretend HIPAA laws, we saw patients like Mrs. Supreme Seasonings and Mr. Teddy Bear. It was all serious fun.

I was on so many pills!

In my early 20's, I started pursuing a career in Western Medicine when two things changed my mind. First, through my experiences at work, I started seeing holes in the way western medicine treated patients. Secondly, I got sick. I started getting high fevers, my joints swelled, I was getting painful ulcerations, and it took a colonoscopy to tell us that the ulcers were also in my intestines. I was tired ALL.THE.TIME. It took 3 years and many MANY specialists to diagnose me with a very rare autoimmune disease called Behcet's.

Nobody knew why I was sick....

It didn't seem like the doctors cared why I was sick, how I got sick, or how it was affecting my life. It didn't even seem like they ever heard me! I was always given the same prescriptions with no end in sight. I knew I didn't want this endless cycle of doctors and medicine in my life, so I started researching ways to heal myself.

My healing journey started with nutrition and yoga, then Chiropractic. When I found Acupuncture and Chinese herbs, it worked! This medicine answered my questions about why I had gotten sick, had specific ways to treat and relieve my symptoms, and it made me feel great! I was off all of my medication and I knew I had to share this with other people with similar stories. I had found my path.
